About this ingredient

IPM is a very light ester with a distinctly dry, fast-absorbing skin feel, which makes it valuable for cutting the heaviness of richer oils. It also acts as a penetration enhancer, improving the delivery of oil-soluble actives through the stratum corneum. Because of that same property it is generally avoided in acne-prone facial formulations, where it is considered comedogenic.

Benefits

  • Very light, dry, fast-absorbing skin feel
  • Reduces greasiness when blended with heavier oils
  • Enhances penetration of oil-soluble actives
  • Effective pigment wetting agent in colour cosmetics

Applications

  • Creams and lotions requiring a dry, light finish
  • Aftershaves, deodorants and antiperspirants
  • Hair oils and serums
  • Bath oils and massage products
  • Topical pharmaceutical vehicles

Documentation

The COA is generated from our current product data and reports conformance against the standard specification — a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis carrying the measured values, batch number and dates is issued with each consignment. TDS and SDS are shared on request. More on how we document.
